Where to Stay on Coronado Island (with Map!)

Last updated on September 5, 2026

Are you planning a trip to San Diego and looking for the best Coronado Island hotels?

Located just across the bay from San Diego, Coronado Island blends classic beach‑town charm with easy access to the many attractions throughout San Diego County.

Although called Coronado Island and most easily accessed via the San Diego Coronado Bay Bridge, Coronado is actually a peninsula. The town is fairly small, but there are tons of different accommodations to choose from – everything from large resorts to small boutique hotels.

Hotels on Coronado Island

I personally love to be walking distance to the beach and Orange Avenue, where you’ll find many great restaurants and things to do, but there is something to be said for more isolated hotels, too.

In this article, I’ll break down the top 10 hotels on Coronado Island – ranging from storied resorts to great value picks – and what makes each one unique. This will help you choose where to stay in Coronado with ease!

The most legendary hotel on Coronado Island, Hotel del Coronado delivers a unique and memorable California beach resort experience. Built in 1888, this sprawling Victorian hotel has been drawing visitors to the beach for more than a century.

Along with its beauty and historic charm, The Del offers sweeping ocean views and tons of deluxe amenities. Recent updates refreshed and modernized many aspects of the hotel while preserving its timeless character.

Even if you’re not staying there, visiting the Del is one of the most popular things to do in Coronado. It has the perfect location right on the beach, and it is a beautiful resort just to wander through and maybe grab an ice cream or cocktail. We love having dinner at this hotel and timing it so we can enjoy the sunset views while we eat.

Now a Hilton resort property, recent upgrades have included the addition of Beach Village, a modern beachfront cluster of villas and suites that offer kitchens, fire pits, and a private patio or terrace with glorious ocean views.

All hotel accommodations have been upgraded to include modern amenities. The hotel offers a number of outdoor pools, an award-winning full-service spa, surf lessons, family-friendly activities, live music, and seven waterfront dining options.

The resort also has multiple pools, a marina, pickleball courts, several great restaurants, and tons of family-friendly activities. We rented a speedboat at the marina, and it was so much fun to cruise through the harbor and under the Coronado Bay Bridge.

It gives you easy access to Coronado Ferry Landing and all its great, casual restaurants, plus you can hop on the ferry to Seaport Village San Diego for a fun day along the waterfront.

I love being able to walk to Ferry Landing for a quick bite – Village Pizzeria is a favorite and also one of the most kid-friendly restaurants in San Diego.

The Bower Coronado is a brand new boutique hotel with just 39 thoughtfully designed rooms. It offers a fresh, modern take on staying in Coronado – luxurious yet unpretentious, and much quieter than the larger resorts.

The Bower replaced Villa Capri by the Sea, a 1950s-era motel that I actually stayed in and was sad to see it go! However, you can still find nods to its history at the new hotel, including the aptly named Dive rooftop bar and restaurant featuring the original hotel’s diving girl logo and the original sign displayed on the side of the building.

Nostalgia aside, The Bower brings a modern, stylish vibe to Coronado Island. With only 39 rooms and lots of lounge areas, it’s a great place to stay. The hotel also has a small fitness center bike rentals for exploring the island.
