Last updated on October 3, 2026

Looking for details and an honest review of The Tropical Hideaway at Disneyland? You’ve come to the right place!
Tucked into Adventureland between Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room and Jungle Cruise, The Tropical Hideaway is one of my favorite places to stop for a snack at Disneyland.
This charming oasis blends exotic ambiance with unique foods and old Disney standards, making it a must-visit quick service spot. It’s best known for Dole Whip treats, but one of the biggest reasons people love it is the lush, tropical setting.

Read on for our full Tropical Hideaway review and everything you need to know about this quick service dining location.

Where is The Tropical Hideaway?
The Tropical Hideaway is located in Adventureland at Disneyland Park, between Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room and Jungle Cruise. In fact, the Tiki Room and The Tropical Hideaway blend seamlessly into each other.

If you love the Enchanted Tiki Room attraction as much as we do, then you’ll know right away that The Tropical Hideaway is named after a line in the birds’ opening song. It’s also no surprise that you’ll find a familiar feathered friend greeting you there.
As the story goes – Rosita from The Enchanted Tiki Room has flown the coop. She now spends her time perched on a wooden crate overlooking The Tropical Hideaway, telling jokes and reminiscing.

It’s fun to pause for a moment and listen to Rosita’s stories. Don’t be surprised if there is a line of people waiting for their turn to take a selfie with her!
Accessible by a bridge from the Enchanted Tiki Room or a pathway which runs along the water from the Jungle Cruise dock, The Tropical Hideaway – which opened in December 2018 – is the perfect addition to Adventureland.

Tropical Hideaway Menu: Dole Whip & Other Snacks
Dole Whip soft serve is one of the most iconic snacks at Disneyland, and The Tropical Hideaway is the place to go at the Disneyland Resort for a Dole Whip and other exotic eats.
The Tropical Hideaway is a quick service location, allowing you to enjoy delicious and (relatively) inexpensive food without the need for a lengthy sit-down meal. The menu includes a variety of snacks and small meals inspired by tropical flavors.

Dole Whips are an absolute must-do whenever my family visits Disneyland, and an ever-popular crowd favorite.
You can order it in a cup or as a float. Swirl options are also available, with flavors changing regularly. We’ve seen strawberry, mango, raspberry, and even peach. You can swirl a mix of any two flavors.

I personally always stick with straight-up classic pineapple, but my son sometimes likes to swirl his for some extra sweetness.
Travel Insight
Did you know the Tropical Hideaway is open for breakfast? If you want to avoid the crowds (especially on hot afternoons!) visit the Tropical Hideaway in the morning. The counter usually opens at 9 a.m.
Other snacks to try at the Tropical Hideaway include Shrimp and Chive Potstickers, Lumpia, are the Lime Chicken Bao, Char Siu Bao (sweet sticky roasted pork in a sweet BBQ Sauce dusted with Paprika), whole fruit and chips.

If we’re looking for more than dessert, the bao are easy to share and make Tropical Hideaway a good stop when we want something savory without committing to a full Disneyland meal.
This also seems like a good spot to pop a reminder: You can bring your own food into Disneyland, so if you can I would recommend doing that before spending close to $5 for a little bag of chips.
Menu items and Dole Whip flavors can change at any time, so be sure to check the Tropical Hideaway’s current menu before your visit.
Seating and Atmosphere
Honestly, the most appealing aspect of the Tropical Hideaway isn’t necessarily the menu, but the exotic atmosphere.

There is a stack of cargo with headhunter spears, totem masks, bags of rice, and wooden crates. The whole seating area offers views of the Jungle Cruise river, adding to the immersive experience.
Towards the back of the restaurant, a row of oars in different shapes, sizes and colors tell a story. Oars have shark bites, bullet holes and arrow heads. One of them has an alligator skull clamped on to it!

At sundown, the setting is transformed with flickering torch lights that illuminate your way through this truly enchanted little restaurant.

The Tropical Hideaway can get busy, especially when it is warm and everyone wants a Dole Whip! Sometimes seating can be tough to find.

Final Thoughts: Disneyland Tropical Hideaway
So, is The Tropical Hideaway worth a stop? For us, yes – almost always! Especially if you’re already spending time in Adventureland.
The Tropical Hideaway at Disneyland offers a perfect blend of delicious food, exotic atmosphere, and a pinch of Disney magic. Whether you’re taking a break from the rides or seeking vibrant new flavors, The Tropical Hideaway is an excellent choice.

Its convenient quick service format, combined with the allure of Adventureland and the irresistible appeal of a Dole Whip, ensures it will be a high point of your visit.
If you’ve never visited The Tropical Hideaway, take a few minutes to look around rather than simply grabbing your Dole Whip and leaving. Say hello to Rosita, check out all the cool decor and details throughout the seating area, and if you can, grab a table near the water and watch the Jungle Cruise boats go by.
The Tropical Hideaway really adds to the Adventureland vibes in this area of the park.
