If you’re planning a trip to the Disneyland Resort and want a hotel that blends upscale amenities, convenience, and value, the Hilton Anaheim deserves a fresh look.
With 1,574 rooms and suites (the largest hotel in Orange County), Hilton Anaheim has recently completed a multi-million dollar, full-property renovation – transforming everything from guest rooms and its lobby to dining, public spaces, and recreation areas. It is the most significant transformation in the hotel’s more than 40-year history.
The Hilton Anaheim is located adjacent to the Anaheim Resort Convention Center and just a short walk to the Disneyland Resort. But don’t let its convention center location throw you off; Hilton Anaheim is extremely kid-friendly! In fact, its big pool deck and splash zone make it one of the best hotels near Disneyland with water park features.
We recently had the opportunity to stay a few nights and experience the renovated property firsthand. I am excited to share this Hilton Anaheim review with you to help you decide if it’s the right place for your Disney vacation.

First Impressions: A Reimagined Lobby with Local Character
From the moment you walk in, the renovation is immediately noticeable.
This wasn’t just a light refresh – it was a comprehensive, property-wide renovation. Long known as a business hotel, Hilton Anaheim now offers a more modern and distinctly Southern California, resort-style feel.
One standout feature is a striking 40-foot sculptural mural by renowned Los Angeles artist Dora De Larios, which anchors the space and adds a strong sense of Southern California identity.
The lobby also now feels more like a social hub than a pass-through space, thanks to Poppy’s Lounge – stylish gathering spot with a round bar, plush seating, handcrafted cocktails, and shareable bites. It’s an inviting place to unwind after a park day or meet up before dinner.
Additionally, as part of the renovation, Hilton Anaheim has upgraded:
- All guest rooms and suites
- Lobby and common areas
- Restaurants and dining spaces
- Fitness center and wellness facilities
- Pool and outdoor recreation areas
- Event and meeting spaces
The overall result is a hotel that feels significantly more upscale and cohesive across the board, while still maintaining its large-scale, full-service appeal and relaxed vibe.
Have you noticed that I haven’t mentioned Disney once? Although Hilton Anaheim is one of the hotels solidly within walking distance to Disneyland, if you are looking for accommodations that scream Mickey Mouse, this is not the place for you.
Hilton Anaheim is keeping it low-key and classy.
Rooms: Newly Renovated with a Modern California Feel
One of the biggest updates at the Hilton Anaheim is its fully redesigned guest rooms and suites. All 1,574 rooms have been refreshed with a more modern, cohesive look inspired by California’s natural landscape.
The upgrades have transformed what was once considered a more dated hotel into a comfortable, modern space. You’ll still get the practical perks families need – like mini-fridges, coffee makers, and big bathrooms – but now in a more polished environment.
Expect a clean, updated aesthetic with:
- Modern furnishings and improved layouts
- Soothing earth tones paired with vibrant blue accents
- Plush bedding and warm wood finishes
- Updated carpeting and refreshed bathrooms
We stayed in a corner room with two queen beds, with windows on two sides overlooking the pool and theme parks (although the park is a few blocks away). It was a nice size, with a huge TV and a separate seating area. The bathroom was also a good size, with the hotel’s premium bath amenities.
Hilton Anaheim has literally dozens of room types! You can reserve a standard room with a king or two queens, a variety of suite types, rooms with a private balcony, and even terrace rooms with a patio that opens right up to the pool deck.
If you can, I would definitely recommend a corner room. It offers extra natural light and a more spacious feel thanks to windows on multiple sides.
Pool & Amenities: Resort-Style Perks on a Rooftop Deck
The Hilton Anaheim has always had nice amenities, but the renovation has taken things up a notch – especially outdoors.
The newly-branded Anaheim Rooftide Terrace on the fifth floor is one of the biggest highlights of the renovation. The area includes:
- A large pool and multiple hot tubs
- A dedicated kids’ splash area
- Fire pits and lounge seating
- Lawn games and open space for families
- Lush landscaping that softens the hotel’s scale
- A more social, relaxed atmosphere
- Alfresco dining and lounge area
One thing I did notice and didn’t love is that since the pool deck is surrounded by the hotel’s towers on three sides, it gets shady for a good part of the day. You may have to move around to stay in the sun!
Dining at Hilton Anaheim
Restaurants, lounges, and dining options are where the Hilton Anaheim has made one of its most impressive leaps forward.
With multiple on-site venues, it’s easy to grab anything from coffee to a full meal without leaving the property.
Here are the dining options at Hilton Anaheim.
- Poppy’s Restaurant – The hotel’s signature all-day dining venue, offering locally sourced California cuisine, steaks, salads, and regional wines in a refined but family-friendly setting. Every table has a vase with bright orange poppy flowers!
- Poppy’s Lounge – Located in the lobby, this is a great spot for handcrafted cocktails and shareable bites in a relaxed, stylish environment.
- Hansen’s Market – An upgraded grab-and-go marketplace featuring fresh sandwiches, organic fruit, local coffee, snacks, and pastries – great for grabbing quick breakfasts before heading to the parks.
- Saltflower Social Kitchen – A standout addition on the rooftop terrace, this coastal-inspired restaurant and bar serves light bites, fresh-pressed juices, and fun tiki-style cocktails in an open-air setting by the pool.
- Starbucks – A newly renovated, 3,000-square-foot location with warm wood tones, natural light, and expanded seating.
- Corner Eatery – A food court with a variety of fast-food options like pizza and Mexican.
For families, this variety is a huge win. Whether you need a fast breakfast, a casual lunch, or a relaxing dinner, you’ll find multiple convenient options without ever leaving the property.
We enjoyed dinner at Poppy’s Restaurant during our stay, as well as their buffet breakfast. The food was excellent and the service fast and friendly. My husband got the Steak Frites and I had chicken tacos and we shared.
Poppy’s also has a great bread basket with garlic butter, but you have to pay a few bucks extra for that. (Worth it! Carbs are my downfall in life.)
Compared to many nearby hotels, the breadth and quality of dining here is a huge plus!
Value: Surprisingly Affordable (at the Right Time)
Here’s something many travelers don’t realize: pricing at the Hilton Anaheim can vary dramatically depending on convention schedules.
Because it’s so closely tied to the Convention Center, rates often drop significantly when no major events are in town. It’s not uncommon to find rooms at surprisingly low prices—we’ve even seen rates as low as around $89 per night.
For a full-service, recently renovated resort hotel, that can be an exceptional value.
Pros & Cons of the Hotel
Here are some pros and cons to consider for staying at the Hilton Anaheim.
Pros:
- Fully renovated rooms and public spaces
- Resort-style amenities, including rooftop pool deck
- Walking distance to Disneyland
- Potential for excellent value during off-peak times

Cons:
- 15 to 20-minute walk to the parks
- Hotel can feel busy or crowded during conventions
- Long hallways can make navigating to your room a challenge, especially after a long day at the parks or if you have kids in tow
- Parking and resort fees add to the total cost

The Hilton Anaheim has always been a solid choice for a great hotel near Disneyland, but these recent renovations now make it a much stronger contender!
