San Francisco Bay Area

San Francisco is my favorite city in California...after San Diego, of course! It is located about 500 miles north of San Diego - a 90-minute flight or just under an 8-hour drive if you were to cruise straight through. (But don't ever do that! There is too much good stuff to stop and see along the way.)

Known as the City by the Bay, San Francisco is located at the tip of a peninsula on San Francisco Bay, flanked by one of its most iconic landmarks, the Golden Gate Bridge. It is also where you will find Alcatraz Island, Fisherman's Wharf, and Ghiradelli Square. San Francisco is truly one of the most beautiful cities - as well as most historic - in California.
